My name is Jonas Dettki and I am a German Painter and Sculptor.

My work concerns itself with primordial subconscious emotions, dreams, and relationships while considering the possibility that all life is connected and codependent, merging into a larger entity similar to the cells that make up an organism.
Each of the paintings I create is usually done on unstretched canvas that I choose to display hand-sewn like a classical tapestry and are mostly large scale.
A key element is the relationship between the figures and the abstract splatters of color. I draw inspiration from the old masters of the classical Renaissance and Baroque period and combine it with the spontaneous process of abstract expressionism developing a dialogue between the two styles.
I am also fascinated by the historical expressions of spirituality whether it is Christianity or the pagan religions of ancient Northern Europe since in my work I deal with topics that transcend the boundaries of a singular human consciousness.
